A Quilter’s Compass: the 2024 Quilter's Planner Sew-Along Sampler Quilt 

We are so excited about the exclusive Quilter’s Compass Sew-Along Sampler Quilt that has been designed by 12 talented designers and the Quilter’s Planner team.

We hope you’re going to sew along with us each month in 2024! We have some fantastic sponsors contributing prizes each month and a bumper prize at the end of the year, so make sure you are in it to win it! You may join in at any point throughout the year, and we would be delighted to see you make this beautiful quilt.

Getting started

The pattern, instructions, and everything you need are included in the 2024 Quilter’s Planner. Take some time to read through the pattern notes, instructions, and fabric requirements before you start.

This pattern is aimed at confident beginners, and there will be lots of tips, encouragement, and inspiration along the way.

Choose your colors

You may want to use the Quilter’s Planner colors just like we have (as it does look fabulous!), or you may want to design your own colorway. To help you out, we’ve included a coloring page, which is a great place to start.

If you are sticking with our rainbow colorway, our friends at Sewfinity in the US have kits for the rainbow version, so all the hard work of finding the right colors has been done for you. You can jump right in with your rotary cutter! Visit www.sewfinity.com to buy the kit.

Enter your blocks each month

This year we want you to get creative and have a little fun when submitting your block each month. You’ll need to submit a photograph of your block (submission details below), and we’d like you to think about ways to make your quilt block stand out. You’ll want to consider:

Location: Can you take your quilt block outside? Can you use props? Will you feature people, pets, or nature? Or maybe you can use a fun corner of your sewing space!

Photography: make sure your photo has good light, no shadows, and a good contrast between the background and the quilt block. Take a look at the photos in The Quilter’s Planner Instagram feed for some inspiration.

Patchwork: We will also be looking for beautiful sewing! Work hard on your points, curves, and cutting. We’re also excited to see the sampler in different fabrics and color ways.

Caption: FINALLY, we’d like you to describe your photograph for us! The theme for this year’s sew-along is “Finding your direction.” Ponder where you’re going in life and where you want to be. What was your biggest win for the month? What direction do you want to go next month? Write a short caption that shares how you have found direction that month.

How to enter your block each month

Upload a photo of your completed block (or finished quilt in December) to the official submission form here.

Please note: Entries posted solely on social media or emailed to us will not be considered official entries. We are choosing not to use social media for entry submission this year as we can no longer reliably view all of the posts that use a given hashtag due to recent changes in multiple social media platforms’ functionality.

However, our community would love to see what you make! Please feel free to post your pictures on Instagram or our Quilter’s Planner Facebook Group as well, and tag us using @thequiltersplanner so that we can all see them!

ENTRY RULES

• Each photo and caption entry will be entered into the pool of blocks from which Quilter’s Planner publisher Lindsie Bergevin will pick the winning block.
• Each month’s entry must be posted by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time (US) on the last day of that month to be eligible.
• One entry per person per month. For the months that the sew-along schedule requires two blocks to be made, only one block’s photo is required for entry.
• Each month’s winner will be announced via email newsletter and social media within a week of the monthly submission deadline. If the winner does not respond within two weeks of our first announcement, a new winner will be selected.
• Some prizes may not be available for participants outside the US. Winners will be contacted via social media or email and asked to provide a shipping address. If a prize is not available in your country, an alternative prize will be provided.
• This giveaway is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Meta, and participants release Meta from any claims associated with this giveaway.
